This week, I am not going to feature any Christmas related movie for this week’s Reel Weekends, instead, I’ll be featuring a different movie entitled CONTAGION. It is a movie about a threat posed by a deadly disease and an international team of doctors contracted by the CDC to deal with the outbreak. Among the casts are Jude Law, Matt Damon, Kate Winslet, Gwyneth Paltrow, and a whole lot more.
This movie could somehow relate to the present scenario here in the Philippines, particularly here in Cagayan de Oro City wherein people are threatened with the disease called leptospirosos which is said to be primarily brought by the flood. It is also said to be contagious especially for those people who have an open wounds.
Leptospirosis is transmitted by the urine of an infected animal and is contagious as long as it is still moist. Although rats, mice and moles are important primary hosts, a wide range of other mammals including dogs, deer, rabbits, hedgehogs, cows, sheep, raccoons, opossums, skunks, and certain marine mammals are able to carry and transmit the disease as secondary hosts. Dogs may lick the urine of an infected animal off the grass or soil, or drink from an infected puddle. There have been reports of “house dogs” contracting leptospirosis apparently from licking the urine of infected mice that entered the house. The type of habitats most likely to carry infective bacteria are muddy riverbanks, ditches, gullies, and muddy livestock rearing areas where there is regular passage of either wild or farm mammals. There is a direct correlation between the amount of rainfall and the incidence of leptospirosis, making it seasonal in temperate climates and year-round in tropical climates (Wikipedia)
Having contagious disease will cause the people to get panicked that any symptoms of it will caused some people to get paranoid.
Watch Contagion Trailer now.
If you haven’t watched this film yet, you better grab a DVD-copy now.

This is a very good movie though I only watch the preview. I will check it on Ebay. Visiting from Reel Weekends, hope that you can return the visit too.
wow so star-studded! funny i have not watched this yet, looks like a famous film. thanks for sharing and would definitely check this movie out!
Bit boring at the start but got better towards the middle and end. Just felt the story is biased against Chinese cooking hygiene. Wonder if it got criticisms from Chinese viewers. I’ve yet to check that out.
